Relaxation
So we are obviously back from our trip to St. Lucia. We had a wonderful time and felt luckily to be able to get out of O'Hare despite the bad storms that were in the Midwest. Most of the week was spent lounging by the pool at our villa or at the beach. Lots of reading was done and crosswords finished. I was happy to discover that we did get ABC, so I was able to watch the Oscars (Sadly, I'm a die-hard fan). We didn't have much of an agenda other than to relax and that was just perfect.
One day we did venture on a land and sea tour. We drove into the rain forest in our open-top Jeep and saw the beautiful lush inland. Alas, there are no monkeys on the island but we did see a boa constrictor (not to mention goats, pigs, cows and dogs galore all on the side of the road)!
After visiting the island volcano and botanical gardens we ate lunch at a cocoa plantation and then boarded a catamaran and sailed back home, stopping at a beach for a swim on the way. It was very lovely and a perfect day.
The other highlight of the trip was the wedding. Eleven of us were gathered on the island to witness and celebrate the marriage.
It was a beautiful wedding in a small gazebo at the top of a hill that overlooked the ocean. We threw our swimsuits on afterwards and relaxed in the sun and then enjoyed a proper English tea before having a big dinner altogether that night. It was great to see how in love Siobhan and Mark are.
I would highly recommend St. Lucia to vacationers. It is a gorgeous, friendly island with plenty to do if adventurous and plenty of beach to relax on if need be.
